Hi all! It is a little over two weeks since my birthday now and I finally have some free time to write up the rest of this blog post. After my birthday things were a little chaotic to say the least, just a handy tip for future Jess and to anyone else reading, when you have 4 assignments to do over the holidays please try your best to not leave them all to the last day, you can even try to type up a bit of that lit essay whilst simultaneously watching that new show with Hillary Duff in it, just don't leave it to the last day ok.
In my previous prom series post, I mentioned that there would be one final installment in the series which is finally coming together now. I originally wanted to do a day in the life vlog style video but the hours just slipped away from me and by the time I started on hair and make up, I was completely flustered and a little bit stressed to say the least. None the less, I did get a lot of photos throughout the day which I thought I could share now!
Just a little warning beforehand, this is a very long post full of lots and lots of photos, so get cozy and make sure you have a little snack at hand, or a big snack, whichever you prefer (big snack).

Today it is cold and rainy outside which can only mean one thing - stay in bed with your dog while he wears an orange fleece poncho and you listen to beautiful playlists on 8tracks.
So the ball is over and it's honestly the weirdest feeling ever - what more is there to look forward to?! But I had such a great time and it was a wonderful night.
Let's get into the outfit details shall we?

As previously mentioned in the first installment of my prom series, I got my ball dress from a darling little vintage store here in Perth called 'Oh Henry Vintage'. They are located in Northbridge and honestly have the nicest vintage pieces so naturally after the first visit in store, it quickly became one of my favourite stores. My sister initially got her ball gown from there and I remember seeing this dress and thinking it was beautiful but at the time it was still quite early for me to get my ball gown. Flash forward a few months, Oh Henry Vintage had a big two day sale to clear some stock and I went both days because I'm a keen bean, nonetheless I'm very glad I did because in the last hour on the second day everything was marked down to 5 dollars, which was how I managed to find this amongst the sea of beautiful vintage clothing and grab it before anyone else.
The dress itself is made of a crushed red velvet material which I love. Initially, the dress had white chrochet lace detail around the chest region and it was a little too big for me. This wasn't a problem because I managed to get the dress altered exactly to how I wanted it to be when I was on holiday in Bali at a lovely little tailor in Bali Collection, Nusa Dua. Altering cost me a grand total of $30 AUD which I was ecstatic about. As you can see, I got the lace removed simply because I didn't really like the way it looked and I just thought it would look more sleek and classy without the crochet lace, I also got the dress taken in basically all the way down the dress so it would be more form fitting and hug my body correctly.I was super happy with the end result.
I paired the dress with very simple black accessories, with black two strap sandal heels from Next ( link to the shoes here) which were super comfortable and a black envelope style clutch that I borrowed from my friend. In terms of jewellery, I got a beautiful little jewellery set from Mustafa Centre in Singapore when I was there on holiday in December, I wanted to incorporate a bit more colour to the look so I decided emerald green would go really nicely with the red velvet. I also knew that I wanted to wear big glamorous earrings so the set was perfect for me.
Makeup & Hair
For makeup, I chose to do a black smokey eye with a really warm brown in the crease to soften the look. I also paired this eye look with MAC Viva Glam I which is a dark vampy red with strong brown undertones in a matte finish. For face, I used a full coverage foundation by Dr Llewyn and made sure to focus on creating a really strong cheekbone contour because my face is super round. I wore really natural falsies by skinfood and had a peachy blush on my cheeks by Zoeva.

1. THE ENTIRE NEW SAN CISCO ALBUM, GRACETOWN.
This whole album is so wonderful and I am beyond excited to be seeing them live in April! Some of my favourite stand out songs are: Too Much Time Together, Wash It All Away, Magic and Run.
First of all, OH MY GOD THE VACCINES RELEASED A NEW SONG. And it's exactly as good as I thought it would be. There's basically never been a song from The Vaccines that I've disliked, they're just so great ahhh. And this was on repeat for basically the whole of last week and it's a great song to pump you up for the day ahead. Oh and the music video is great.
3. MARINA AND THE DIAMOND'S NEW ALBUM, FROOT.
I didn't like too many songs from Electra Heart but I am seriously loving Froot, my favourite songs from the album are Froot (of course), Can't Pin Me Down, Happy and Blue. This is just such a groovy album ugh I love it.
Ok Hayley Blais is kind of an all time human favourite because her videos on youtube are actually my favourite things ever and she's absolutely hilarious. But last week she uploaded this cover of I Want You Back and let me tell you, IT IS FREAKING ANGELIC. It's basically the kind of song you think of when you think of like walking to heaven or running through a field of sunflowers in a white summer frock and a big straw floppy hat and your hair in a messy side braid, ok. And the original by the Jackson 5 is great too and is a classic forever I just adore both versions very dearly.
Keaton Henson's songs are the kind of songs that can make you cry just like that even if you're just waiting for your bus and your playlist is on shuffle and then all of a sudden one of his songs start playing and you're in tears - or maybe that's just me. But Keaton Henson is a lyrical genius and is probably my favourite singer of all time and I almost got to see him live a few years back but he cancelled his show :( but none the less, his songs are so calming and gentle and I love the whole Birthdays album but this is the one that I've been listening to a lot recently. Fun fact, in year 10 I really went through a big fangirl stage so obviously I quoted one of his lyrics in an essay for English.
So that is all for the songs, but I also want to say that I'm sorry I've been only getting a post up each week :( I really want to be getting at least 2 up per week but at the moment school is absolutely mental and I havent left the house in over 48 hours because I've been trapped inside all weekend doing my psychology lab report. I want to be getting lots of fashion and beauty posts up but at the moment it's very difficult to squeeze in time in my days to have like a 40 minute outfit shoot or anything like that so I hope you guys don't mind that the last few posts have been geared more towards lifestyle-ish things!
